A site visit checklist for property agents and buyers
A site visit goes faster, and leads to better decisions, when you know what to look for. Use this short list for each property you show or visit.
Before you go
- Confirm the time and the contact person with the owner or tenant.
- Carry the listing details, the price and the key documents.
- Check the route and parking so the buyer is not kept waiting.
At the property
- Walk every room and open the taps, switches and windows.
- Look for damp patches, cracks and signs of leaks, especially near bathrooms and ceilings.
- Check natural light, ventilation and noise at the time of day you visit.
- Take photos and notes so you can compare properties later.
After the visit
- Write down the buyer's questions and reactions while they are fresh.
- Follow up the same day with the details they asked for.
